Accreditation Board

ACM and IEEE-CS comprise an accreditation board, along with ABET (formerly known as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) and CSAB (formerly known as the Computing Sciences Accreditation Board).  CSAB is the lead society within ABET for accreditation of programs in computer science, information systems, software engineering, and information technology, and is a cooperating society for accreditation of computer engineering, biological engineering, and information engineering technology. In this capacity, CSAB has responsibility for the development of accreditation criteria and for the selection and training of program evaluators. Accreditation activities are conducted by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET. Within ABET, the Computing Accreditation Commission is responsible for the accreditation of programs in computer science, information systems, and information technology, while the Engineering Accreditation Commission is responsible for the accreditation of programs in software engineering and computer engineering.
