ACM Computing Week 96

Career program
Site Visits

As many as six excursions are being planned to companies in the Philadelphia region for which computing is a substantial activity. These half-day trips will involve tours of facilities and presentations by technical and human resources personnel of each corporation visited. All trips will leave from the Philadelphia Marriott hotel (home site of CW 96).

Presenters will describe the kinds of projects under way at each corporation visited and provide insights as to the nature of the technical background and communications skills required of new hires, now and in the future. The visits will span a wide spectrum of industries, including those with missions in communication, pharmaceuticals, and finance, as well as computer manufacturing and software. These site visits will be a natural complement to the ACM Career Workshops. Together, these two events are expected to provide attendees with valuable information as to career planning, resume preparation, job hunting, and interview preparation, as well as guidance as to the technical, applications based, and communications skills required to obtain good jobs in the computing field. All trips are free to student registrants for Computing Week as well as full registrants for any of the four Computing Week conferences.
