The Student Volunteer program is one of the most important parts of every CSCW conference. The student volunteers, SVs as we affectionately call them, take care of many essential tasks during the conference -- without them, many conference necessities wouldn't happen. In exchange for 20 hours of volunteer work, students receive a number of benefits, including complimentary conference registration, one free workshop of their choice, and an invitation to the conference reception. Also, volunteers from past years report that the 'social networks' they build with conference attendees and other student volunteers is the greatest benefit of being a volunteer. Volunteers must be undergraduate, master's, or doctoral students during the 2001-2002 academic year. All students, regardless of discipline, are encouraged to apply. No experience is required. We are looking for enthusiastic, intelligent, reliable people. Volunteers must commit to a total of 20 volunteer hours of work at the conference. We request that some students arrive the day before the conference begins and stay a few hours after the conference ends. Any hours worked during these periods will count towards the 20-hour total. If you are interested in being a CSCW 2002 student volunteer you may sign up using the online application form (see below). If you have difficulty using the online form, please contact the Student Volunteer Co-Chairs by email (cscw2002-svchairs @ acm.org). If you are interested in volunteering, sign up soon! The number of student volunteer positions is limited. Positions are currently filled, but we will put you on a wait-list. What should a Student Volunteer expect? Here's an online handbook designed for CSCW'98. For More Information:
