April 30, 2004: Submissions Due
June 14, 2004: Notification of Proposal Acceptance
Workshops provide an opportunity to discuss and explore emerging areas of CSCW research with a group of like-minded researchers and practitioners. Workshops may focus on any aspect of CSCW theory or practice, established concerns or new ideas. The goal of the workshop is to share understandings and experiences, to foster research communities, to learn from each other and to envision future directions. For a sample of workshop topics from the last conference, please look at the CSCW 2002 Workshop Program.
Workshops run for one full day. Opportunities will be available for the outcome of workshops to be reported to the rest of the CSCW conference through posters and for reports on the workshops to be published in SIGGROUP Bulletin.
Workshop proposals should consist of an abstract and a detailed proposal. The abstract should be no more than 150 words. The body of the proposal should be no more than 3000 words, and should include a description of the theme(s) of the workshop, the workshop activities and goals, the background of the organizer(s), the maximum number of participants, and the means of selecting participants.
Please include in your proposal, one of the options listed below with respect to the workshop's A/V needs. Note: Workshops are intended as small group discussions. Therefore, they receive minimal technology support which is reflected in the low fee for workshops. Workshop organizers requiring more than an overhead projector and screen are encouraged to arrange to bring their own equipment (e.g., LCD projector) or consider alternate formats that require minimal technology support.
Select one of the following A/V options for your workshop (Internet access is NOT available):
- None required
- Overhead projector and screen
- LCD projector and screen (note: this will incur an additional workshop registration charge of approx. $50 per workshop attendee)
- Will bring own LCD projector; screen provided by conference. (note: workshop organizers will undertake full responsibility for arranging, securing, and operating their own LCD projector in lieu of an additional workshop registration charge per workshop attendee.)
