Welcome to CSCW 2008!

We welcome you to the ACM 2008 Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work!

CSCW is at an exciting cross-roads. In this program we see growth in the diversity of topics, methods and technologies that support collaboration. As well, you will find a number of topics which have traditionally found a home in CSCW, but which have not (until recently) been seen as independent research areas. Paper sessions will include original research covering emerging areas of collaboration and collaborative systems such as Wikis & Wikipedia, Naughty & Nice issues in Social Networking Systems, Gaming, Health Informatics, and Deployments at Home. While other paper sessions will cover topics with traditional representation in CSCW including Distributed Teams, Media Spaces, Online Community, Interpersonal Relations in the Group, Work Places and Work Practices.

The conference program also includes panel discussions by leading thinkers in the fields of Gaming, Ubiquitous Computing, and Enterprise 3.0 systems. The Interactive Posters and Demonstrations session provides the opportunity for you to directly interact with innovators in topics of particular interest to you. Look at the video program for even more demonstrations of new capabilities. Participate in one of the thirteen workshops to learn about and contribute to the advance of new research themes in our increasingly computer-supported social activities.

The CSCW 2008 program contains an exciting mix of new flavors and familiar tastes. We invite you to savor all that CSCW 2008 has to offer!
