Andreas Birk
Andreas Birk (birk@ieee.org) is a visiting professor (associate) at the Flemish Free University of Brussels (VUB) and a research fellow of the Flemish Institute for Applied Research (IWT). He received his Ph.D. in 1995 from the Universitaet des Saarlandes, Saarbruecken, Germany. In addition to autonomous systems in general, Andreas Birk is especially interested in machine learning, theoretical models of cooperation, and heterogeneous systems. In doing so, his work is grounded on real robots. It follows that his activities span the whole range from conceptual theories to the technological aspects of actual implementation. November 2001
