Editor In Chief Job Description
The following may be delegated to other Editorial Board members as
the EIC sees fit:
- Making article selection
decisions based on the reviews and votes of the Editorial Board and other
reviewers. The EIC has the final
decision, though, and is not required to follow the recommendation of the
reviewers
- Final-editing of all
accepted articles and requesting final approval from authors (if
needed)
- Preparing the final articles
for layout and reviewing the page proofs of the layout
- Setting and enforcing deadlines
- Collecting votes and announcing results
- Writing and distributing status
reports every two weeks to the Editorial Board
- Acting as official representative of Crossroads as needed
- Overseeing Crossroads funds and soliciting funds as needed, tracking budget
reports
- Responding to all Crossroads
correspondence, forwarding correspondence as needed
- Maintaining the online Guest book
- Maintaining the Editorial Board mailing list
- Maintaining the
xrds-announce mailing list and sending appropriate messages over it
- Maintaining contact with authors about the status of their submission

- Maintaining the Staff Policy document to agree with ACM Publications Board
policies
- Selecting, appointing and dismissing Editorial Board members and other
volunteers who participate regularly (column writers, etc).
- Assisting other staff members as needed
The Editor-In-Chief may rely on other members of the
Editorial Board to perform some of the above duties; however, the
Editor-In-Chief has the ultimate responsibility for the content and
presentation of Crossroads.
