Mathematical Formulas
When including mathematical formulas and equations in an article, use HTML for simple formulas. For example, for the formula
E = mc2
use the HTML
E = mc<sup>2</sup>
For more complicated formulas, create an image. For example,
Very important: All images must be 300 dpi when printed. See How to Make an Image 300 dpi.
Using LaTeX to Create Mathematical Formulas
We recommend LaTeX for creating your mathematical formula images. LaTeX is a document preparation system that has great support for technical, scientific, and mathematical writing. The American Mathematical Society has provided a Short Math Guide for LaTeX. If you use LaTeX, you can use Ghostscript to turn the ps or pdf file into a jpeg that will print at 300 dpi. See How to Make an Image 300 dpi. Then you'll need to go in and crop the image around your formula.
