Selling For Dummies

Comments:

"Selling for Dummies" is fascinating. Hopkins makes the arguement that /every/ part of our lives involves "selling", otherwise known as persuading, convincing, and maybe even arguing. We 'sell' ourselves and talents to win that job offer or promotion, we 'sell' our friends when on going to /our/ favorite movie instead of theirs, we 'sell' our parents on buying us a new car. Chapter one gives a detailed example of how to 'sell' yourself to a potential employer...how to get that interview, and then how to land the job! Very practical. The rest of the book goes into detail about 'selling' skills such as: prospecting (finding people who will want to buy your product), first contact with the prospect, qualifying the prospect (asking good questions to see if your offering is really in their best interest), presentation, addressing concerns, closing the sale, and getting referrals. This is a great book, hard to put down, and I learned a billion good ideas from it. Pick it up and apply it to the 'selling' situations in /your/ life!
