Thursday, December 1, 2011
There's still time to get involved in CSEdWeek, December 4-10! Computer Science Education Week 2011 is dedicated to raising awareness among students, educators, and the public of how computer science impacts our daily lives, from exciting career choices to new innovations that can change the world.
More than 1300 pledges to support CSEdWeek with activities and events have poured in from around the world, including mobile apps workshops, gaming competitions, school assemblies, and science fairs. Here are some more ways you can participate:
- Visit the Event Planning Toolkit to see events from past years, invite key local officials and personalities, teach a young person programming in Scratch, etc. Or find a local event in your area to join using the zip code search or the interactive map.
- Have a discussion about what computing means to you. How does learning about computer science differ from using computers to teach and learn? This backgrounder from Computing in the Core will help start the conversation.
- Tell everyone what you did! "Like" CSEdWeek on Facebook, blog, tweet using #CSEdWeek, and post videos on YouTube.
