Exploring Computer Science
WHY: Computing plays a major role in underpinning U.S. innovation, driving economic development, and shaping our culture and workforce. But bringing rigorous computing education to K-12 classrooms that goes beyond basic technology literacy skills like word processing remains a serious challenge.
Exciting new computing curricula and teacher preparation currently in some of Los Angeles, CA’s most diverse schools are busting the myth that only certain populations can learn computer science. This briefing addresses the urgent need for more participation by women and minorities in the computing field.
