Action: Ellis to notify ACM EC and SGB of the decision to remove grant and sponsorship income from the allocation assessment. (12/23/99)
Action: Ellis to ask SGB for input on Turner's committee on US policy office. (3/3/00)
Action: Baglio to let Cohoon know which of the reported SIG newsletters discussed during the 3/3/00 conference call have submitted newsletters to HQ. (3/3/00)
The following Action item was reassigned to David Notkin:
Action: Siegel to provide newsletter update to SGB EC by Sept. 15, 2000.(2/5/00)
The SGB EC indicated that SIGDA has always been an outstanding citizen in the ACM community. As a result they believe that a proposal from SIGDA could easily satisfy the criteria outlined in the Zweben Society Report. SIGDA has demonstrated their willingness to go over and above for the good of the community time and again. They can easily itemize their activities for the leadership and build a case for society status. SIGDA has indicated that they are comfortable working within the general structure that has been established and are currently seeking no additional privileges. Since responsibility comes before privileges this should be an easy proposal to endorse. Ellis would like to have the proposal prior to the ACM EC meeting at the end of June as an informational item. This will allow her to update the outgoing and incoming committees. The proposal would then be discussed during the next SGB meeting and if endorsed by the SGB, brought to Council in the Fall.
Action: Baglio to contact Levitan and request he submit a society proposal as outlined by the SGB EC.
The SGB EC suggested that the elected SGB EC Chair handle the position assignments in the same way that Ellis did in July'99. Elected EC members will be asked which position they prefer and assignments will be made by the Chair based on those preferences.
Action: Baglio will secure monthly conference call dates and time once SGB EC election results are announced.
