The ACM Lectureship Series welcomes applications and nominations
for potential speakers. This program is open to all full voting
members of the ACM who have demonstrated technical expertise in
computing and who have strong presentation skills. If you are
interested in participating in this excellent program, or if you
know of other qualified individuals who might be, please complete
and forward an application or nomination.
In order to ensure the timely processing of the application or
nomination, please follow these guidelines.
- A formal application/nomination consists of three items:
- a completed application form
- a current vitae or resume, and
- letters of recommendation which speak to the applicants
speaking ability and level of expertise.
- Applications/recommendations, together with supporting materials,
can be submitted to ACM HQ at any time.
- Lectureship selection will be made on the basis of competitive review
by the Lectureship Advisory Committee. Appointed Lecturers will then
be asked to provide the information needed for the web page we showcase
on each lecturer, i.e., a biographical sketch and a brief description
of each talk (see examples at http://www.acm.org/top/lect-topic.html ).
ACM Lecturers are appointed for a one-year term, with the
possibility of renewal. In exceptional circumstances, this term
may be for a period up to but not to exceed three years.
Lecturers will receive a certificate of recognition for their
service to the ACM and are invited to participate in the annual
Lectureship Speakers Luncheon held in conjunction with the BIG
Event to coincide with the ACM's annual Computer Science
Conference.
