Get outside and enjoy some Hawaiian sun with fellow UIST attendees. We will meet at the conference hotel's registration desk at 13:00. We will then depart and walk over to the Kapiolani Regional Park. At the park, we'll walk the 3 km circumference. After we walk the border of the park, people can self-organize into additional activities. For example, the park is a great place to hang out and chat. Also, the nearby Waikiki Aquarium (General Admission: $12; Open 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) is a nice place to visit.
Bring your analog fabrication skills for the first ever UIST Sandcastle Contest! During the Tuesday afternoon break (15:40 to 17:00), join fellow attendees for some fun in the sand. Following the close of the afternoon sessions, we will be handing out a few tools for sandcastle building as well as a sign to put next to your creation. At approximately 17:00, the Beach Chair will come by and take photos. We’ll post these photos on the web and give UIST attendees a way to vote for their favorites.
Form teams of one to fifty. No rules – just fun. Feel free to import specialized equipment from your lab for working with sand ;-)
See you on the beach!
Please browse the flickr feed from the Sandcastle contest. Claim a sandcastle as yours by adding a comment with your team members’ names. Vote for the sandcastles you like by favoriting a photo!
