Harry Hochheiser

I have recently completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Maryland, working with Dr. Ben Shneiderman on interactive query tools for time series data.  The focus of my study was in the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory Computer Science Department University of Maryland.  In July, I will be joining the National Institute for Aging as a research fellow, working on software tools and ontologies for accessing and managing large stores of microscopy data.

My work in Computer/policy related areas includes several years of work with Computing Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR). I wrote CPSR's filtering faq (www.cpsr.org/filters/faq.html), participated in CPSR's work on commenting on the DNS reform process, and co-led a workshop on DNS reform at ACM Policy '98.  More recently, I've been looking at the design of social protocols and how they account for values.
