Invitation to Participate in ACM FCA Career Paths Survey

December 4, 2020

The ACM Future of Computing Academy is a platform that enables the next generation of researchers, practitioners, educators, and entrepreneurs to develop a strong and influential voice towards addressing challenging issues facing the computing discipline, and the world at large. The ACM FCA aspires to harness collective action to define and launch new ACM initiatives that will carry the world of computing into the future.

The details of ACM FCA can be found at https://www.acm.org/fca and at https://acm-fca.org.

While many are familiar with the book Cracking the Coding Interview as preparation for a traditional career in computing, there is no comparable resource for discovering or preparing for other careers both within industry and research. The objective of this survey is to create such a resource and share it with the world. The survey aims to collect insights and experiences from computing professionals pursuing a diverse array of career paths and turn these interesting findings into a comprehensive resource to help aspiring computing professionals discover a broad range of career options and help them navigate successfully through them.

The ACM FCA ultimately aims to develop a website to present these findings, and this survey is their first step toward this ambitious goal. This survey has 31 questions, all are optional, and it will take around 15 minutes to fill out. This is a voluntary exercise and the globally available privacy laws will be strictly adhered to. No personally identifiable data will be collected.
