Apply for ACM SIGHPC/Intel Computational & Data Science Fellowships
If you are a graduate student in data science and computational science, you are encouraged to apply for an international program of graduate fellowships created by SIGHPC, ACM's Special Interest Group on High Performance Computing, and Intel. The ACM SIGHPC/Intel Computational and Data Science Fellowships aim to increase diversity in these fields. The deadline for applications is April 30. Each fellowship recipient will receive a stipend prior to the start of their first academic term after August 1, and will be recognized formally at the annual SC conference awards presentation in November.

ACM Student Chapter Excellence Program: Apply by April 20!
The ACM Student Chapter Excellence Awards recognize outstanding ACM student chapters. All student chapters in good standing are encouraged to apply for this award in five key areas:
- Chapter Activities
- Chapter Website
- Recruitment Program
- Community Service
- School Service
Winning chapters in each of these categories will receive $500 and a "best of" icon to proudly display on their chapter's website. Also, these chapters will be recognized on the ACM website and in ACM MemberNet. To be considered for one or more of these awards, ACM student chapters must submit an application to [email protected] by April 20. Please be sure to abide by the 500-word maximum for the essay portion. If your essay is longer, it will be truncated and only the first 500 words will be submitted to the judges. ACM Student Research Competition Winners
ACM Student Research Competitions (SRCs), sponsored by Microsoft, offer a unique forum for undergraduate and graduate students to present their original research at well-known ACM sponsored and co-sponsored conferences before a panel of judges and attendees. The most recent SRC winners presented at Programming 2017.
Next two open calls for submissions are for SIGCOMM 2017, August 21 - 25, 2017, with a deadline of May 17, 2017 and for ESEC/FSE 2017, September 4 - 8, 2017, with a deadline of June 9, 2017. See all open calls for submission here. More information at http://src.acm.org.

ACM and CSTA Announce Cutler-Bell Prize Student Winners
ACM and the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) have announced the 2016-2017 winners of the Cutler-Bell Prize in High School Computing. Three high school students were selected from among a pool of graduating high school seniors throughout the US. Eligible students applied for the award by submitting a project/artifact that engages modern technology and computer science. A panel of judges then selected the recipients based on the ingenuity, complexity, relevancy and originality of their projects.
The winners—whose work ranged from using data to study refugee migration models; to determining type and quantity of protein components in biological samples; to a software program that evaluates students' understanding of curriculum components—were:
- Elizabeth Hu, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (Virginia)
- Avi Swartz, Cherry Creek High School for Computational Biology (Colorado)
- Aaron Walter, Yorkville High School for Computer Science (Illinois)
David Cutler, a software engineer, and Gordon Bell, an electrical engineer, established the award in 2015. Each Cutler-Bell Prize winner receives a $10,000 cash prize. This year's recipients will be formally recognized at the Computer Science Teachers Association's annual conference, July 8-11. Read the news release.

ACM-IEEE-CS George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowship
The ACM-IEEE-CS George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowship honors exceptional PhD students throughout the world whose research focus is on high-performance computing applications, networking, storage, or large-scale data analysis using the most powerful computers that are currently available. The awards are presented each November at the annual SC Conference. Each fellowship is accompanied by an honorarium of $5,000 plus travel expenses to attend the conference. Nominations are due May 1.

ACM-W Student Scholarships for Attendance at Research Conferences
The ACM Women's Council (ACM-W), provides support for women undergraduate or graduate students in computer science and related programs who wish to attend research conferences. This exposure to the Computer Science research world can encourage a student to continue on to the next level (Undergraduate to Graduate, Masters to Ph.D., Ph.D. to an industry or academic position). The student does not have to present a paper at the conference she attends. Students can apply an unlimited number of times; however, once a student receives an award, she is no longer eligible for future ACM-W scholarships.
The ACM-W scholarships are divided between scholarships of up to $600 for intra-continental conference travel, and scholarships of up to $1200 for intercontinental conference travel. Scholarship applications are evaluated in six groups each year, in order to distribute awards across a range of conferences.
ACM-W encourages the student's home department to match the scholarship award and recognize the student's achievement locally within their department. In addition, if the award is for attendance at one of several ACM Special Interest Group conferences (SIGACCESS, SIGACT, SIGARCH, SIGCOMM, SIGCHI, SIGCSE, SIGDA, SIGECOM, SIGEVO, SIGGRAPH, SIGHPC, SIGIR, SIGITE, SIGMM, SIGMOBILE, SIGOPS, SIGPLAN, and SIGSOFT), the SIG will provide complimentary conference registration and a mentor during the conference. The number of free registrations available varies from SIG to SIG.
