SIGKDD Innovation Award Recipient Pedro Domingos Talks "The Five Tribes of Machine Learning (And What You Can Learn from Each)"
If you didn't catch "The Five Tribes of Machine Learning (And What You Can Learn from Each)" live earlier today, the webcast is now available on demand. Presented by Pedro Domingos, Professor of computer science at the University of Washington in Seattle and recipient of the SIGKDD Innovation Award, the talk summarizes the five schools of thought in machine learning (symbolists, connectionists, evolutionaries, Bayesians, and analogizers) and describes Pedro's work toward unifying them, including in particular Markov logic networks. Pedro concludes by speculating on the new applications that a universal learner will enable, and how society will change as a result. Gregory Piatetsky-Shapiro, President of KDnuggets and Co-Founder of ACM SIGKDD, moderates.
