ACM Open Conference Statement

The open exchange of ideas and the freedom of thought and expression are central to the aims and goals of ACM and its conferences.  These aims and goals require an environment that recognizes the inherent worth of every person and group, that fosters dignity, understanding, and mutual respect, and that embraces diversity.
 
ACM is firmly committed to prohibiting discrimination at its conferences against individuals because of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status religion, national origin, ancestry, or disability.  All individuals are entitled to participate in any ACM activity free of discrimination, including harassment based on any of the above factors.

ACM is concerned about discriminatory legislation in various locations and will work with conference organizers to best address location related issues.

MMSys 2024, April 15 - 18

The ACM Multimedia Systems Conference provides a forum for leading experts from academia and industry to present and share their latest research findings in multimedia systems. This provides a unique opportunity to investigate the intersections and the interplay of the various approaches and solutions developed across these domains to deal with multimedia data types. Workshops will include "Network and Operating Systems Support for Digital Audio and Video," "Green Multimedia Systems," and "Immersive Mixed and Virtual Environment Systems." ICSE 2024, Apr. 14 - 20

The ACM/IEEE International Conference on Software Engineering is the premier software engineering forum where researchers, practitioners, and educators gather together to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, experiences and issues in the field of software engineering. Keynote speakers include Antónia Lopes (University of Lisbon), Carlo A. Furia (Università della Svizzera Italiana), Tomasz Kuchta (Samsung Electronics), Margaret-Anne Storey (University of Victoria), Rashina Hoda (Monash University), and more. The event is being held in Lisbon, Portugal.

EuroSys 2024, Apr. 22 - 25

EuroSys—the European chapter of ACM SIGOPS—is a premier conference on various aspects of systems software research and development, including its ramifications for hardware and applications. Topics of interest for the conference include: operating systems, database systems, real-time systems, networked systems, storage systems, middleware, distributed, parallel, and embedded computing systems. Workshops include "Challenges and Opportunities of Efficient and Performant Storage Systems," "Empowering Software through Machine Learning," "Empowering Software through Machine Learning," and more. The event is being held in Athens, Greece.

ASPLOS 2024, Apr. 27 - May 1

The conference for Architectural Support for Programming Languages and Operating Systems iis the premier academic forum for multidisciplinary computer systems research spanning hardware, software, and their interaction. It focuses on computer architecture, programming languages, operating systems, and associated areas such as networking and storage. Workshops and tutorials include "Energy Efficient Machine Learning & Cognitive Computing," "Open-source Reconfigurable Computing for Edge and Cloud AI," "Languages, Tools, and Techniques for Accelerator Design," and more. The conference will be in San Diego, California, USA.

CHI 2024, May 11 - 16 (Hybrid)

The ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems is the premier international conference of Human-Computer Interaction. Workshops include "Haptic Playground: Empowering Inclusive Haptic Design for Everyone," "Shaping The Future: Developing Principles for Policy Recommendations for Responsible Innovation in Virtual Worlds," "Toward a More Comprehensive Understanding of Visualization Literacy," "Evaluating Interactive AI: Understanding and Controlling Placebo Effects in Human-AI Interaction," and more. The conference will be held as a hybrid event in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.

The Web Conference 2024, May 13 - 17

The ACM Web Conference is an annual international academic conference on the topic of the future direction of the World Wide Web. It will offer will offer a high quality program made of research sessions, posters and demonstrations, a PhD symposium for junior scholars, workshops, tutorials, a developers track for practitioners, panels, a special track on web for good, and co-located special days. Keynote speakers are Bo Zhang, (Tsinghua University), Jie Tang, (Tsinghua University), Jon Kleinberg, (Cornell University), Bin Liu, (National University of Singapore), and Jeannie Marie Paterson, (The University of Melbourne). The event is being held in Singapore.

CPS-IoT Week 2024, May 13 - 16

CPS-IoT Week is the premier event on Cyber-Physical Systems and the Internet-of-Things. It brings together five top conferences, HSCC, ICCPS, IoTDI, IPSN, and RTAS, and multiple workshops, tutorials, and competitions including "Machine Learning on Edge in Sensor Systems," "Rapid Prototyping Using Tock In Cyber-Physical Systems," "Crystal-Free/-Less Radio and System-based Research for IoT," and more. Keynote speakers are Kang G. Shin (The University of Michigan) and Chenyang Lu (Washington University). The event is being held in Hong Kong, China.

WebSci 2024, May 21- 24

The ACM Web Science Conference is an interdisciplinary field dedicated to understanding the complex and multiple impacts of the Web on society and vice versa, co-located with the ACM Web Conference. The discipline is well situated to address pressing issues of our time by incorporating various scientific approaches. This year's keynote speakers are Eszter Hargittai (University of Zurich), Jie Tang (Tsinghua University), Dirk Hovy (Bocconi University), Hannes Werthner (TU Wien), and Jennifer Pan (Stanford University). The event is being held in Stuttgart, Germany.

womENcourage 2024, June 26-28

The 11th ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: womENcourage 2024, will be hosted at Escuela Politécnica Superior of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain, June 26-28, 2024. Open to all genders, this event is aimed at celebrating the role and impact of women in computing and supporting participants at different stages in their STEM careers by offering an international, multisectoral, and multidisciplinary forum to share experience and knowledge, get constructive feedback, and promote meaningful networking.

Virtual Conferences: A Guide to Best Practices

In March 2020 ACM formed a Presidential Task Force (PTF) to help conference organizers transition their events to online. The PTF is working on a guide to offer practical advice and shed light on the largely unfamiliar territory of online conferencing.

The report, available here, includes pointers to a live document with additional resources. We welcome comments, suggestions and experience reports from the community.

SIGGRAPH: Seminal Graphics Papers, Volume 2

In recognition of its 50th year as the premier conference and exhibition on computer graphics and interactive techniques, the Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques (SIGGRAPH) will be publishing Seminal Graphics Papers, Volume 2. This collection of 89 papers celebrates SIGGRAPH’s origins and continued success as a technical and professional society, and typifies the ground-breaking research that has been the conference’s hallmark since 1974. All articles will be open in the DL with a print-on-demand version available for purchase as well.
