ACM Chapter Member News | December 2016

Welcome to the December 2016 edition of the ACM Chapter Member News

Chapters are the "local neighborhoods" of ACM. Our Professional and Student chapters worldwide serve as nodes of activity for ACM members and the computing community at large, offering seminars, lectures, and the opportunity to meet peers and experts in many fields of interest. With over 900 active chapters worldwide, we would like to take the time now to connect with all of you, and bring you a few ACM Highlights.

ACM Chapter Spotlight

Florida State University ACM SIGGRAPH Student Chapter put on an event on November 18 that brought together a series of talks and gaming events, featuring the Technical Design Director at UCF's Interactive Entertainment Academy Ron Weaver, FSU's Entrepreneur in Residence and Disney Imagineer Mk Haley, and a game tournament hosted by FAMU Game Design and FSU Game Committee!

They invited everyone to learn more from these game changers in the gaming world and meet other students who share their interest for interactive entertainment!

Congratulations Florida State University ACM SIGGRAPH Student Chapter and keep up the great work.

If your chapter would like to be featured in the chapter spotlight please email local_activities@acm.org with a description of your recent event.

Volunteer with SocialCoder

You can use your technical skills for social good and offer volunteer support on software development projects to organizations who could not otherwise afford it. SocialCoder connects volunteer programmers/software developers with registered charities and helps match them to suitable projects based on their skills, experience, and the causes they care about. Learn more about ACM’s new partnership with SocialCoder, and how you can get involved.
