Abstract: Blockchain, the distributed ledger and smart contract technology, has now entered the trough of disillusionment as the hype has died down substantially. It first came to fore as the underlying technology that powered the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, but over the last few years has come of its own. The talk will:

Introduce and explain what blockchain is and the various flavors of it are
Provide insights into the transformations it can bring across industries
Give an insight into how enterprise should go about leveraging it to create business value

Presenter:
Dr. Pandurang Kamat is Associate CTO and Chief Technologist at Persistent Systems. Pandurang incubated and now heads Persistent's Blockchain/DLT practice globally, focussed on solving enterprise and government problems with distributed ledger technologies. Prior to Persistent, he was the director of analytics at Ask.com and has also worked at Bell Labs and HP Labs, building secure communications and digital media products. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Rutgers University, New Jersey.
