New ACM India Awards: Update on Nominations

June 15, 2020

Dear All,

Hope you are aware of the three new awards instituted by ACM India Council:

This being the year of introduction of the awards, we find that some clarifications and details are needed in the evaluation criteria for certain awards. We have now included them in the respective “How to Nominate” pages for the awards.

And continuing with the improvement in the process, we have also aligned the submission deadlines for all the three awards to be 31 August 2020 11 pm IST. This means that the deadline for Outstanding Contribution to Computing Education Award deadline is extended from 31 July 2020 to 31 August 2020.

The Early Career Research Award eligibility stipulates between 6 and 12 years of the terminal degree, and the Outstanding Contributions in Computing by a Woman Award eligibility states that the nominee be within 50 years of age. Through these criteria we are trying to ensure that there is potential for at least a decade of future contribution by the award laureate and subsequent benefit to the community. Extending similar consideration to the Outstanding Contribution to Computing Education Award, we ask that the nominee be within 55 years of age on 1 January of the year of nomination. Please make a note of the modified eligibility criterion.

All the nomination process pages as well as the submission forms have been updated to reflect the above changes.

Visit the ACM India awards page for the list of all awards, new and existing.

On behalf of the Awards Steering Committee and the Selection Committees,

Executive Director, ACM India Council
