COVID-19 Update on ACM India Summer Schools 2020

With the entire country in lockdown until 15 April and all of us focused on fighting COVID-19, one of the biggest threats to humankind, any other deadlines are hardly important right now. This includes the original deadline of 27 March for Summer School applications. So we are keeping the applications open until 17 April while we decide the next course of action. We are also waiving the application fee of Rs200+GST. We will also refund the fee to all applicants who have paid while submitting their applications so far.

Also note that the inevitable delays anticipated in the academic calendars have made it logistically impossible to organize two of the schools, "Fairness, Accountability and Transparency in AI" and "Computer Architecture and Operating Systems". We may be able to offer them in winter. Also note that one school, "Programming Language Analysis and Optimization", has been pushed to July. Those who have applied to those schools may apply again for other schools if they wish. Details, including the application form, can be found on the ACM India Summer School 2020 home page, https://india.acm.org/education/acm-india-summer-schools-2020.

While we are continuing with the plans for 4 schools, the schools will only be held if it is completely safe to do so.
