Abstract: The process of drug development and commercialization has transformed itself in several aspects and due to various reasons. Evolving computational sophistication has played a significant role in enabling this transformation and thus impacted the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry in a big way. This talk will provide an overview of this evolution and the relationship, along with its relevance in the Indian context.

Presenter:
Dr. Chitra Lele has over 30 years of experience across academics and industry across geographies, including two decades in the pharmaceutical industry with deep understanding of drug development and entire product lifecycle. Her research contributions have appeared as 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Chitra holds a PhD in Statistics from Stanford University and is an Associate, Society of Actuaries (USA). She started out her career as biostatistician at Stanford University and University of San Francisco, followed by faculty positions at University of Minnesota, IIT Bombay and University of Pune.

Chitra was Executive Director, Development Operations India, Pfizer Global R&D, responsible for establishing and growing the first offshore Clinical Data Management centre in India. Most recently she was part of the founding team and Chief Scientific Officer of Sciformix (now Covance), a Scientific Process Organization that focuses on Safety and Risk Management, Biostatistics, Pharmacovigilance, Scientific writing and Regulatory Affairs.
