Abstract:

E-commerce is seeing rapid growth in India. Most of the new users who are coming onboard are non-English-speaking users. With most of the content available only in English, these users find it a daunting task to discover the right products that they are looking for, get answers to any questions they may have about the products, and complete a purchase online. We had to bridge this language gap. In this talk, we briefly describe how we went about translating the content on our app from English to Indic languages, the challenges faced during this journey, and some of the techniques that helped overcome these challenges.
