Diversity and Inclusion Track
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
The D&I track is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion (D&I) in research in Data Sciences and Databases. We introduced this track last year, and given the positive response to the activities, we are expanding the scope of the track this year. The goal of the D&I track is to enable greater participation of a wider audience than is typical. This year, we are looking to achieve not only greater gender diversity, but geographic and institutional diversity too.
The track will feature eminent keynote speakers, a live panel, talks on experiences of people in data science from diverse backgrounds, and D&I opportunities enabled by ACM/ACM India. Additionally, we will be hosting mentorship and networking luncheon opportunities for students, faculty members, and researchers from traditionally underrepresented groups to provide them an opportunity to interact with leading scientists from both academia and industry. This year, we will also be hosting a hands-on workshop on inclusive design which will provide insights on how applications can be designed by keeping the requirements of diverse groups in mind, followed by live ideation and validation for different scenarios.
In order to enable greater participation, we are offering up to 50 scholarships for attendees for traditionally underrepresented segments to attend the conference. We will take care of reimbursing the travel (three-tier, air conditioned train - fare by shortest distance), and registration. We will also provide accommodation during the dates of the conference. It is mandatory for the scholarship awardees to attend all the D&I events organized at the conference. The reimbursement of travel and registration expenses is contingent on this. To apply for the scholarship, you are required to submit a CV and a short-write up describing why you wish to attend CODS-COMAD and how you will contribute to improving the diversity of the conference.
