Quantum algorithms have been able to solve classical intractable problems like simulating physics, search and optimization, etc., or simply speed up classical algorithms. However, implementations on today's noisy Quantum Computing hardware have not yet reached a stage where they can claim a definite advantage over classical computing, barring a very small set of use cases.
The webinar on "Unlocking the Quantum Advantage" tries to answer a few questions: What are the difficulties with running state-of-the-art quantum algorithms? What are the major challenges towards scalable quantum hardware? How long is the wait expected to last for? Do we have to rethink proven Quantum algorithms? While Quantum Computing hardware matures, are there any other computing technologies that can offer significant speed-up or value?
We start with a talk on “What Can We Do With a Quantum Computer?" by Prof. Andris Ambainis (University of Latvia). Next, we have a fireside chat on “What to Expect When You are Expecting Quantum Advantage?” with Dr. Anil Prabhakar (Professor, IIT Madras), Dr. Aditi Sen De, (Professor, Harish Chandra Research Institute), Dr. Rajamani Vijayaraghavan (Associate Professor, TIFR), and Dr. Shivaji Sondhi (Oxford University) along with moderator Manoj Nambiar (Chief Scientist, TCS Research).
