"From Clouds to Hybrid Clouds"

In this session of the webinar series, we focus on the Hybrid Cloud computing model. We will discuss the factors that motivated the development of Hybrid Cloud, its key characteristics, some of its technology building blocks, and its architecture patterns that are enabling real-world Hybrid Cloud deployment.

Register now for the next session of ACM India Industry Webinar series, From Clouds to Hybrid Clouds to be presented on Thursday, 25 May 2023 at 6:00 pm IST by Dr. Amith Singhee, Director IBM Research India and Chief Technology Officer for IBM India and South Asia.

The hosts for this session will be Dr. Hemant Pande, Executive Director of ACM India and Dr. Rajeev Shorey, UQIDAR, IIT Delhi.

Title: From Clouds to Hybrid Clouds

Abstract:

Cloud computing promises significant benefits to organizations in deploying and utilizing their Information Technology (IT) systems and applications. At the same time, we see software deployments increasingly span across disparate IT environments. For example, enterprise applications will often include functionalities deployed across pre-existing on-premises data centers and newly adopted Public Clouds. Another example, deployment could span the Edge, telecom networks and centralized data centers. Achieving such deployment will challenge development and IT service management teams because these various environments would need diverse skills and technology expertise. Further, seamless interoperability among these environments may be challenging. These problems created the need for the Hybrid Cloud computing model, or simply, Hybrid Cloud, as the solution. In this talk, we will discuss the factors that motivated the development of Hybrid Cloud, its key characteristics, some of its technology building blocks, and its architecture patterns that are enabling real-world Hybrid Cloud deployment.
