Large Language Models (LLMs) have remarkable abilities and potential uses, but they also pose serious risks and challenges for safe and ethical deployment. One intriguing aspect of LLMs is that their safety becomes harder to ensure as their power increases. The focus of the research is on Responsible AI and ethical issues related to LLMs and their applications.
We start with a keynote address on – “Negotiating the Dark Side of Large Language Models: Bias, Jailbreaks and Beyond” by Dr. Monojit Choudhury, Microsoft Research
The talk will address three aspects of this crucial and complex problem: the bias and offensive content generation, jailbreaks and the creative ways that powerful models can be manipulated, and the challenges of scaling the fairness and safety aspects to languages other than English. The talk will also consider deeper ethical questions about accountability and value pluralism.
