Prioritized Activities to Address Systemic Change

ACM's Committee on Systemic Change has developed this living document of its prioritized activities to address systemic change.

  1. Awards – Examine:
    • Various criteria
    • Historic data for applicants and awardees
    • Provide information about developing successful nomination packages
  2. Publications – Examine issues related to:
    • Authorship
    • Publication Board membership criteria
    • Systems around citations
  3. People – Identify ways to broaden diversity among membership and leadership of ACM:
    • HBCUs (and other Minority Serving Institutions) via outreach, speakers bureau, sponsorship of conferences, etc. For example, ADMI, free 1-year memberships, travel grants
    • Understand statistics around diversity of conference planning committees and conference presenters
    • ACM leadership, such as SIG Boards and Councils (membership and leadership)
    • ACM Member Grades
    • Student chapters, hosting workshops before conferences
