Highly Anticipated AI Journal Now Accepting Submissions

ACM AI Letters Fills Crucial Need

New York, NY, September 24, 2025 – ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, is now accepting submissions for publication in ACM AI Letters (AILET), a unique venue for rapid publication of impactful, concise, and timely communications in artificial intelligence. Due to its rapid peer-review model, ACM AI Letters will empower researchers to swiftly engage with the most recent developments in the field. In keeping with ACM’s commitment to make computing research freely accessible, all ACM AI Letters papers will be open access, with no publication charges for the first three years.

Bridging a crucial gap between traditional conferences and journals, ACM AI Letters will feature short peer-reviewed contributions that accelerate knowledge dissemination across academia and industry. This unique publication prioritizes theoretical breakthroughs, algorithmic innovation, practical real-world applications, and critical societal implications including ethics, policy, and responsible AI. It also introduces a distinctive space for rigorously reviewed opinion pieces and policy briefs, promoting swift engagement with contemporary issues shaping the AI landscape.

“Researchers across the AI spectrum have been telling us that a letters-style venue is needed to swiftly disseminate information about the latest innovations,” explained Scott Delman, ACM’s Director of Publications. “With ACM AI Letters, we’ll be able to publish late-breaking research results, policy assessments, and opinion pieces from thought-leaders in the field . And while the peer-review will be rapid, ACM’s standing as the world’s largest computing society will ensure the most rigorous review process among academic publishers.”

ACM AI Letters welcomes concise summaries of work in the following areas:

  • Algorithmic Advances: Descriptions of significant algorithmic and scientific advances in AI
  • Theoretical AI: Reports on theoretical breakthroughs in AI
  • Practical Applications: Accounts of novel or deployed applications of AI in real-world settings such as healthcare, finance, robotics, and autonomous systems
  • AI & Society: Reports on AI applications addressing key societal challenges, such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
  • Emerging Topics: Areas like AI ethics, explainable AI, policy, governance, and responsible AI will be covered, focusing on their implications in practical implementations

The Co-Editors-in-Chief of ACM AI Letters are Nitesh Chawla, University of Notre Dame (USA); Barry O’Sullivan, University College Cork (Ireland); and Richa Singh, IIT Jodhpur (India). The Co-EiCs will be supported by an advisory board made up of senior AI researchers from around the world and a large international editorial board to facilitate rapid peer review of articles.
